Frequently Asked Questions
Q: I have never surfed before so how do I know
which board to choose?
A: For the beginner, a soft surfboard is the best choice. A good soft surfboard,
is padded
and is less dangerous than a conventional board. The rider won’t suffer
a serious injury if the board hits their head or face.
Q: What length of surfboard do I
need?
A: The basic rule is “the bigger the board, the easier it is
to ride”. Longer, wider boards are more stable, allowing better
balance. The thicker the board, the more floatation it will provide,
making paddling and catching the wave easier. Your height and
weight are also factors when choosing a board.
Q: I have done some surfing and now want to
go further. Should I try a short board?
A: Yes, If you are confident about your ability and are able to paddle
on to a green wave (unbroken wave). If you are still a little unsure,
spending more time on a long board will improve
your ability much faster than going straight to a short board.
